The New Zealand team started the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup by defeating Norway 1-0.

A moment’s silence was observed between New Zealand and Norway in the opening match of the World Cup after two people were killed in a shooting at Eden Park in Auckland on Thursday morning.

In the Group A match, 26th-ranked New Zealand beat 12th-ranked Norway 1-0.

Which set a record in New Zealand’s history for attendance at any football match, male or female, at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Over 42,100 people were in attendance to watch the match between New Zealand and Norway.

The game remained deadlocked until New Zealand’s Hannah Wilkinson scored from teammate Jackie Hand’s cross in the 48th minute.

New Zealand beat Norway 1-0 in Auckland thanks to a superb Hannah Wilkinson goal after half-time.

At the end of regulation time, Ferns had a chance to score another goal when the New Zealand team converted a penalty kick.

But she missed the goal in the 90th minute when Riya Percival’s shot hit the crossbar.

New Zealand made a stellar start to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, holding favorites Norway to a goalless scoreline in the first half.
